thenewno2 - Bordello

Drinks were flowing, people crowded around, some celebrities were watching when the band took on this small Hollywood club. Initially I had talked to the band's manager to let me put a few lights on the ceiling so that I would basically turned this dark cool place into a live photo shoot. He liked the idea but the timing didn't work and I ended up just bringing a strobe. 

This is probably the only time I've used a strobe when shooting the band. 

thenewno2 - Crazy Tuesday

This was the first time I shot "thenewno2" back in 2008. They were playing every Tuesday night at the Key Club on Sunset. They called these series of concerts "Crazy Tuesdays"  named after their song "Crazy Tuesday".  I had very limited access and I only shot them one of those nights, but the energy that I felt throughout the show was for sure captured on the photographs. 

Carolina & Dakota

These are the first people that allowed me to get as close as I wanted with my camera. At the time I only had a 35mm film camera and I just went to town. My friend Carolina used to work as a dancer in Hollywood at a place called Forty Deuce. I remember the small place, barely lit, packed with people. I can smell the scent of wine in the small changing rooms where the dancers would get ready. I love these pictures because they take me there. I can only hope they take you somewhere close to that.
